8 Funny Memes for Readers

8 Funny Memes for Readers

I think we could all use a good laugh. Memes are one of the greatest (worst?) gifts the internet has given us, and here are seven only readers will appreciate.

Balloon meme with text "reader," "the end of the book," and "the realization there's no way so much conflict can be wrapped up in so few pages."

We’ve all been there. If we’re lucky, the book has a sequel. If not… you can either cry or throw the book across the room. Your choice.

Meme showing Wonder Woman laughing with text "when someone asks if I have enough books"

The good news is that if a book disappoints you, there’s always another. You can never have too many books.

Meme showing the Death Start blowing up Aalderon with the text "The Author" over the Death Star and "My favorite character's happiness" over the exploding planet.

Yeah, I know. This is pretty hypocritical of me considering how much I make my own characters suffer. 🀷😈

Proud goat meme with the text "When you finish a book on your TBR list"

We all have a towering TBR list. When you check off a book on it, you deserve to be proud.

Meme showing happy Sailor Moon with text "I finished the book" and sad Sailor Moon with text "But now there's nothing left to read"

Although sometimes finishing a book can leave mixed feelings. You ever just stare off in the distance in a daze when you finish a good one, not sure what to do with yourself outside the world of the story?

Meme with drunken, passed out Number Five from Umbrella Academy with text "That feeling when you've been emotionally wrecked by a book"

And sometimes finishing a book leaves you like this. Not that it stops us readers from starting the next book in the series. We’re gluttons for punishment like that.

WandaVision meme showing happy Wanda with text "The library has that new book you want" and frustrated Wanda with text "20 people already have it on hold."

This happens a lot with hot new books at my local library–not that it makes me love my library any less. I’ll happily wait if it means saving thirty bucks for a hardcover that I’m not sure I’ll like yet.

Excited cat meme with text "When the ebook is free"

Speaking of saving money, there’s nothing better than finding an ebook with a beautiful cover and intriguing blurb and then seeing the price is zero.

Do you relate to any of these memes? Have your own favorite bookish meme? Let me know in the comments!

If Kristen Brand could have any superpower, she'd want telekinesis so she wouldn't have to move from her computer to pour a new cup of tea. She spends far too much time on the internet, and when she's not writing, she's usually reading novels or comic books. Icon by @heckosart.

  1. These are great!!! πŸ˜‚ That first one is how I felt about an element in the latest Toby novel. Like, srsly Seanan, you’re STILL not going to resolve this plot point?! On the other hand, sometimes the realization that there are too many unresolved threads is a relief because it means the series isn’t over yet.

  2. Super relatable. Especially the question of do I have enough books. The answer is no. No I do not. My dream is to one day own a house with a dedicated library room. The only problem with that dream is that I will never again escape the gravitational force of all those books and they will find my body in a comfy chair holding a copy of Superhuman Disaster in my withered hands…
Anyway, thanks for sharing this. Needed a good laugh!

    1. Haha! I guess I shouldn’t be laughing because you’re dead in this hypothetical situation, but the mental image cracks me up. πŸ˜‚
A dedicated library room would be great. I never considered the dangers, though…
