Free ebooks are the best. They’re a great way for readers to try new series risk-free, and they help authors reach new audiences. But there’s just so many of them that it can be hard to find one you like.
Free ebook Friday spotlights a free ebook that I’ve personally read and enjoyed, and hopefully, it’ll help you find a good read. The posts come out on random Fridays, not weekly, and the books featured will probably be speculative fiction.
This week’s pick is:
Book Description
Wicked fae, shattered memories… and a dream that just won’t die.
Nightmares still plague Elaine, five years after her escape from the darkest realm in faerie. Elaine’s memories are scattered and torn, but one uneasy remnant haunts her dreams: a mysterious man with cold blue eyes. When Elaine’s nightmares return for her, so too does the man from her dreams. Tall, wicked, and cloaked in dark power, Liam claims that he’s come to protect Elaine… but he might be the most dangerous temptation of all.
Adult fans of Holly Black and Sarah J. Maas will love this modern faerie tale romance that reviewers say “brought back my love of the paranormal.” Dive into Crown of Frost and read the book that started the Faerie Lords series.
My Thoughts
If you’re looking for a wintery read, this is a good paranormal romance to consider. Not only is it set during winter in the human world, but a big part of the story is in Blackfrost, an icy faerie realm that’s basically eternal deadly winter.
But don’t worry about feeling too cold. The steamy scenes definitely heat things up. 😳🔥
One bit of worldbuilding I love in this story is that humans forget the details of Faerieland (called Arcadia) once they leave the realm. So after the heroine escaped, she only has very hazy memories of being trapped there. She doesn’t even remember how she killed the faerie lord who imprisoned her, only that she did. It makes for a really interesting dynamic when the hero shows up and she feels a connection to him but can’t remember why.
If you enjoy paranormal romance, the fae, or icy magic, you’ll probably want to check this one out. Find it on Amazon, Kobo, Barnes & Noble, or Apple Books.
Do you have a favorite winter read? Let me know in the comments! And if you’re in the Northern hemisphere, stay warm out there!

Wow! This sounds like it starts way In Medias Res! At first I thought you were describing a middle book in the series, and had to look at the cover again. And the setting sounds like the Ice Queen’s Narnia!
Thanks for the rec!

It definitely drops you right into the action! Part of the fun is the mystery of trying to figure out what the heroine forgot. 😀
