End of Autumn Recap Tag

Autumn book and coffee

Now that Thanksgiving is over, I’m officially transitioning from autumn to Christmas-mode. Goodbye pumpkins and autumn leaves, hello snowflakes and icicles.

At least in my head. I live in Florida, so it’s more like goodbye hot weather, hello slightly cooler weather, but I’ve got a snowy winter wonderland in my heart.

I found the End of Autumn Recap Tag at Fortunately, The Book. It’s originally from You Are What You Read and was made in 2019, but I’m usually late jumping on trends, so I’m not going to let that stop me.

Which book can you not stop thinking about?

Harrow the Ninth Cover

Harrow the Ninth turned my brain into mush. Who was the Body? What are all the side characters from the last book doing? What’s going to happen to Gideon? To Harrow? What is going on????

I have questions, and I really hope Alecto the Ninth gives me answers.

What genre did you read the most?

Fantasy. That, sci-fi, and mystery are pretty much all I read.

What can I say? I know what I like. 🤷

Which book surprised you the most?

Crimson Hunter Cover

I went into Crimson Hunter expecting a typical paranormal novel with witches and werewolves. I was not prepared for the epic sci-fi world-building, twisty plot, and multiple villains who all think they’re doing the right thing.

What was your favorite cover?

Monstress Cover

I’ve been working my way through the volumes of Monstress, and not only are the covers gorgeous, but the interior art is just as breathtaking. Plus the story, characters, and world are amazing. I definitely recommend it.

What was your favorite fall/autumn release?

Mooncakes graphic novel cover

I very rarely read new releases when they’re still new. If I can count an autumnal book that released in fall of any year, I’ll go with Mooncakes. Such a cozy fall read.

Which books did you plan on reading, but you never got around to?

Mexican Gothic Cover

I wanted to read Mexican Gothic but was foiled by the extremely long wait list at my library. I guess the readers in my town have good taste.

Which books do you plan on reading in the winter?

I’m planning another Christmas cozy mystery binge. Something about December makes me want to read about ladies solving murders while knitting sweaters or baking cakes. Bonus points if the book has a festive recipe at the end.

And that’s the tag! Though as usual, I’ve skipped the negative prompts like “Which book disappointed you most?” because I like to keep my blog positive.

What are you planning on reading in winter?

  1. I’ve been meaning to read the Ninth books! I hear they’re fantastic sapphic macabre fantasies (with a focus on very well-written necromancy, as Jeanne says). And I hear Mooncakes is an adorably cozy slow-burn romance.

    Thanks for the recs! 😃
