The Superhero Dating Reality Show You Need to Follow

I don’t watch reality TV. It’s just not my cup of tea, but I’m starting to think I’ll be interested in anything if you throw superheroes into the mix.

Case in point: The S Factor.

It’s essentially The Bachelor but for superheroes, which I think is the coolest concept ever. Superheroes have a notoriously tough time dating with that whole secret identity thing. They’re always having to run off with a weak excuse to stop a giant monster attack, abandoning their date at the restaurant table and generally ruining the evening.

But if they’re dating a fellow superhero, they can run off and fight that giant monster together. How sweet is that? It’s always great for couples to have shared interests.

The S Factor plans to introduce one contestant a week on their Twitter feed, which I recommend following if only for the art. The characters are all drawn by comic book artist Chris Panda, and they are so freaking stylish. I love their different outfits for different occasions.

Fashion is important. Sometimes you have time to change into your superhero costume before the big fight, but sometimes you gotta throw down with supervillains in your civvies.

Although it’s still in the early stages, The S Factor seems like a cool project, and I’m excited to see what they do next. There’s so much potential for this idea. Will the filming get interrupted by an alien invasion? Is one of the contestants secretly a supervillain? Will the ladies stop competing for the dude’s affections and celebrate the strong female friendships they’ve formed by starting a superhero team? (That one. That’s my favorite.)

Go check out @SFactorTV to find out, and be sure to send them some love. (Then you can go all hipster and tell people you were a fan before they got famous.) Meanwhile, I’ll be contemplating what other things I have zero interest in that I’d be 100% here for if they involved superheroes.

What’s your favorite and/or least expected thing you’ve seen superheroes crossed over with? Let me know in the comments!

If Kristen Brand could have any superpower, she'd want telekinesis so she wouldn't have to move from her computer to pour a new cup of tea. She spends far too much time on the internet, and when she's not writing, she's usually reading novels or comic books. Icon by @heckosart.
